French Roast coffee describes the colour of the coffee beans after they have been roasted. These beans are on the darker end of the scale, and are usually the colour of dark chocolate. The oils of the bean rise to the surface to create a glossy sheen, giving a roasted, smoky flavour to the coffee itself.
